Biography
Oscar Schultz (b. 2006, Helsinki) is a devoted young cellist studying at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki with Joona Pulkkinen. In autumn 2024, he was awarded the third prize in the category of 15–20-year-olds of the National Porvoo Cello Competition.
Oscar joined the Finnish String Academy in 2023, where he receives regular lessons from Tuomas Lehto and Tuomas Ylinen as well as from visiting professors. Before joining the Sibelius Academy, Oscar studied at the Helsinki Conservatory with Sami Mäkelä (2019–2023) and began his cello studies at the Sandels Music and Cultural School at the age of six.
Oscar has taken part in numerous masterclasses and received lessons from, among others, Maximilian Hornung, Torleif Thedéen and Jiang Wang.
In addition to playing the cello, he enjoys choral singing, cooking, and photography.
